artist bios

Michelle Arcila

Michelle Arcila was born in New York in 1980. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2002 with a B.F.A in photography. She is currently living and working in NYC. Arcila has exhibited in Poland, Australia, Belgium, Norway and New York. Her work has been published in Vogue Korea, Time Out NY, Metro Pop, Les Inrockuptibles and Downbeat. She's photographed and served as art director for numerous record covers. Her work also appears in a number of private collections.

Daniel Cheek

Daniel Cheek was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1978. His family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan when he was 6 years old. Cheek moved to San Francisco, California when he was 21. He photographs with an 8x10 camera and black and white film. He has worked at Fraenkel Gallery as Rights and Reproductions Manager for six years. He is married and has a son.

Mike Sinclair

His photographs are frequently published in the architectural press and elsewhere, including The New York Times, Metropolis, Architectural Record and Interior Design. His work is in several public and private collections, including The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, also in Kansas City.

Parsley Steinweiss

Parsley Steinweiss was born and raised in New York City.  She received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and her M.F.A. from SUNY Purchase.  Her work has appeared in a number of exhibitions in New York and L.A., most recently, in the New York Slideluck Potshow XIII.  She has also been featured in the Humble Arts Foundation’s, The Collector’s Guide to Emerging Art Photography.  This year she was a winner of the juried competition for the upcoming 2009 International Exhibition of Fine Art Photography, curated by Andy Adams.  She currently lives and works in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. 

Kurt Tong

Kurt Tong was originally trained as a health visitor at the University of Liverpool. He has worked and traveled extensively across Europe, the Americas and Asia. In 1999, Kurt co-founded Prema Vasam, a charitable home for disabled and disadvantaged children in Chennai, South India.

Kurt became a full-time photographer in 2003. He was the winner of the Luis Valtuena International Humanitarian Photography Award and the City of Port St. Elpidio Prize with his first picture story. He gained a Masters in documentary photography at the London College of Communications in 2006. He has since been chosen as a winner in the first Lens Culture - Rhubarb Photo Book Award, the Hey, Hot Shot! competition and the prestigious Jerwood Photography Award.

Kurt’s photographs have been widely exhibited around the world at venues including Impressions Gallery in Bradford, The Royal Academy in London, La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Abbaye de Neumunster in Luxembourg and the CPA Exhibition in Chengdu, China.
